My five year old grandson, Aidan and I were talking the other day when he said, “Nanny Trish, Nanny Trish, Nanny Trish and you can see him thinking..., then "Do you know I’ve got lots of Nannies?” I said to him I think you’ve got about six and he says maybe five, do you know I’ve got lots of Nannies?” I said to him I think you’ve got about six and he says maybe five maybe seven! His mum does a quick head count and there’s six; the lucky grandchildren of separated grandparents with bonus extras. He said “That’s right! I’ve got two greats!” I said to him that when I was his age I had 4 great-grandparents, how lucky was I?
He looked at me and said “Do you still have them all?” and I said “No, not now”. “What happened to them?” he asked me. I told him that well its been a long time…, when his mum said “Remember, that people go to heaven? That’s were they are.”
Quick as a flash, with his eyes all lit up, Aidan says “When you go to heaven you get to see all your friends and do your favourite things. Nanny Trish what would you do when you get to heaven?” With an equally big twinkle in my eye I told him that I would do jewellery and read books and lots of other things.
Aidan said “Nanny Trish, when me and you go to heaven, we can PLAY! We can play all day!” and I laughed with him and said “I think that we would, and that is exactly what heaven is for!”
